ByPressGEO Research· Citation analytics team

Every week we monitor a rotating set of high-intent prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, and Copilot, and log every URL each engine cites. Here's the snapshot for the week ending July 17, 2026.

Headline numbers

  • 0 non-brand citations — earned on buyer-intent and discovery prompts that did NOT name the brand. This is the GEO outcome the service is built to deliver.
  • 89 brand-prompt citations — earned on prompts that named the brand directly. Useful as a reach / recognition signal, separate from GEO performance.
  • 89 total citations across 1230 probes (7.2% overall rate). +27% vs the prior 7-day window.
  • 8 engines returned at least one citation.

What this means

The two numbers above answer two different questions. Brand-prompt citations answer "do AI engines know we exist?" — useful, but engines will cite a brand's own homepage when directly asked about it almost regardless of GEO work. Non-brand citations answer "does AI cite us when buyers describe the problem instead of the brand?" That's the harder, more commercially meaningful number, and it's the one we hold the service accountable to.

Citation rates move week-to-week — a single high-volume prompt can dominate any one engine's number. The longer-term trend is the one to watch. If you want the rolling 30-day view across the whole PressGEO network, the live /proof page has it.

If you want to know whether your release would have been cited, the free GEO Score tool grades any release 0–100 against the same 10 rules the engines use.

See you next week.
