Brand = probes whose prompt named the brand. Non-brand = category and discovery prompts that did not name the brand. The non-brand number is the meaningful GEO accountability metric — the rate at which an engine cites a source on a buyer-intent prompt where the buyer described the problem instead of the company.

Methodology

PressGEO Research logs every probe in the public citation monitor. Each row records (engine, query, whether a PressGEO-published URL appeared in the engine's answer, citation position, surrounding excerpt). Coverage spans ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Grok, and Reddit. This dataset aggregates the rolling 30-day window ending 2026-10-20 (UTC). cite_rate = cited / total_checks. Every probe is classified by tier: brand_aware (prompt names the brand), category_intent (prompt names the category but not the brand), or discovery (generic problem-statement prompt). Non-brand cite_rate = (category_cited + discovery_cited) / (category_checks + discovery_checks) and is the meaningful GEO accountability metric.
