Does AI search use your Google reviews?
Owners with hundreds of five-star reviews are often surprised to find a competitor recommended instead. Reviews can appear in AI answers, but a strong rating does not by itself make an assistant name you for a particular question.
What is publicly known
AI engines publish only limited detail about how they choose local businesses. Some answers quote ratings or review snippets from sources they retrieve, and Google's own AI features draw on Google's information. Beyond that, treat any claim of a precise 'review weight' as speculation.
Why reviews alone are not enough
An assistant still needs to understand what you do and where. If your services and service area are unclear, a highly rated business can be passed over for a question it would be perfect for. Reviews describe customer experiences; they do not explain your services.
How to check it for your business
Ask several engines your buyers' service-and-city questions. Note whether answers mention ratings, which businesses appear, and which sources are cited. Compare businesses named against their public ratings — you will often find the most-reviewed firm is not the one named. Then work on the facts and answers missing from your own pages, and keep collecting genuine reviews. Never buy or fabricate reviews.
