What is the Austin AI Visibility Index and how does it work?

The Austin AI Visibility Index is a monthly research report published by PressGEO that measures how often local service firms are recommended by AI engines like ChatGPT and Claude. The November 2026 report analyzed 156 firms across 14 categories using 26 recorded AI answers from the previous 90 days. Rankings are based strictly on the frequency of mentions in AI responses to common consumer questions and cannot be purchased. The index helps local businesses understand their visibility in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
